Experienced handymen may have knowledge of many potential projects, but a few of them will not require craftsman and home renovation know-how. There are a few decent chances you can make use of these pallets, but we will cover one possibility here, which is making a pallet garden. You can use a good deal of plants in this manner for a useful environment solution that would make your garden space more attractive. You can get started on the job by following the tips ahead so you can get the supplies you need:
- Burlap sheeting
- Spray paint
- Potting soil
- Hammer and scissors
The total cost for the job should be pretty low since the supplies and tools necessary will be cheap as well. In return for this, you will be able to get a good amount of space for growing plants as you see fit.
Paint the pallet
One good way of making a good look for your pallet planter is to use some spray paint to make them work. Lay it down on your burlap sheeting and brush it off with a wire brush or a hand and you will have a good, clean surface for the job. Give the pallet a few coats of paint and let it sit out for a few hours or until it is completely dry.
Staple the burlap sheeting
This should be considered a crucial part of the job, as the burlap will keep the soil from spilling from the pallet. This should give the plants the room to grow as their roots safely. Start by doing that in 4 to 5-inch spacing between staples to close up the pallet completely. This should let your work without any issues. You can let one side of the pallet open to allow for easier irrigation.
Add soil and seedlings
You are almost done with the job, just add some potting soil to the slats and fill it up entirely. Leave your pallet in a horizontal position and pour the soil in. Once that is done, you can work on planting as this will allow the roots to take hold and to make it work. With enough irrigation, you will have plenty of chances to make things work. The best thing about it is that you will be able to use this as improvised patches of garden space you can rely upon.
Taking care of the gardening
You need to have the pallet in a horizontal position for about two weeks while your plants are taking root. You can then hang it in the garden in a vertical position, something you need to do with concrete screws on a good wall. This should be done because the pallets are too heavy that way, and you will need to be careful with it. Once that is done, you can call your home improvement project complete, earn some handyman experience in the process.
