Without planning ahead, I glued various sizes of slats pallet wood into one surface, after planing and polishing to create this Pallet Wood Concrete-Ended Table. I wanted to leave the boards of varying lengths, and I decided to pour concrete to complete the rectangle shape. To strengthen the bond between the concrete and the wood I knocked large nails into the wood.

Pallet Wood Concrete-Ended Table:

To begin, I planed several pieces of pallet wood, cutting them to various lengths on one end. I glued them together and clamped them firmly. While they dried, I built a frame from more pallet wood, and lined it with a tarp first, then waxed paper. I stacked the glued boards into the frame and mixed the concrete. Next, I carefully poured it in, trying to keep it from oozing under the glued boards. I made sure it filled in the gaps and tapped the frame several times to help remove air bubbles. Finally, I removed the frame after it cured, and carefully cleaned up along the edges. I built a simple A-frame style of supports that connects to two boards I notched out. Then, I stained the support boards a darker, contrasting color. It was sealed with a semi-gloss polyurethane. This little table makes an excellent conversation piece.

How did you connect the legs to the top? Or does it just sit inside the frame?
