Pallet States, Pallet Provinces: Show Your Pride

I used many scrap pieces from a tiny-house build and decided to turn them into some wall art. I made these Pallet States & Pallet Provinces by gluing those strips together. Then I traced the state shapes onto the wood and cut out with a jigsaw.

Here are two finished shapes, but I haven’t oiled them yet. They’re beautiful natural, but an application of oil or polyurethane brings out the wood grain and tone differences.

I alternated wood types to create the two-toned effect. I sanded the shapes until they were smooth and applied oils to bring out the natural beauty.

Here are a selection of states that are ready for sanding and oiling.

Cut the pieces out with the wood grains running any direction you choose. Polyurethane or oil makes the surfaces gleam!

Mixing wood types gives the pieces an appeal they wouldn’t have had if made from a single piece of wood.
