I built this Pallet Pirate Chest to store all of the Wii components for my children. I made this in about 8 hours, and I needed two pallets.
How I made this Pallet Pirate Chest:
I used approximately two pallets to do this project. First I sanded the pallet deck boards and then cut them all to length. When I had everything sanded and cut, I bonded everything together with wood glue. I reinforced each side with more deck boards.
I didn’t do the arched top that is usually shown on pirate chests. I imagined that at the time, the “real” pirates didn’t have the means to do rounded lids. I think it still looks great, though. I stained it and then installed a simple knob and a set of hinges to complete the project. It stores a lot of things, looks much better than a cardboard or plastic box, and the kids like it.
