We built this modified Outdoor Pallet Wood Trash Can shell to hold a 13-gallon trash can. It is a great way to keep the can secure and hide those unsightly plastic kitchen cans, too.
First, I broke down two pallets and sanded them down somewhat to remove the rough edges. Next, built a frame to fit around the can at both the top and bottom. I added deck boards to cover the outside but screwed them in place from the inside. I had to rip a few down on the table saw to fit. Additionally, I made a small frame for the lid and made a pallet handle for convenience. Finally, I added trim around the top, mitering the corners, and attached everything with a brad nailer. I sanded all exterior pieces with 220 grit orbital sander.
Brilliant idea to hide the can, and to keep pets out, too. Now you need to throw a party and try out the can – make some of these Bottle Openers!
I love this it’s such a great idea
Thanks! Super easy!!
