I needed something that I could put by my door so that I didn’t forget things. Additionally, I needed a place where I could put my phone and laptop when they weren’t in use. I finally made this Family Pallet Command Center! My husband and I about my idea and how I wanted it out of a pallet. I love the look of pallet wood, and most of the time people just toss them. After giving him the general idea, he set to work to turn something so simple as a pallet, into a masterpiece, and boy did he!
It took us probably a whole afternoon to complete our little Family Pallet Command Center, and here’s how we did it:
First, we found a pallet and broke it down. Next, we sanded the wood smooth and sorted it out. We designed it to the size we wanted and did the measurements/layout on the wood. After cutting, we laid it out, dry-fit it to double-check and began nailing it together. Once it was done, I couldn’t wait to get it installed on the wall and put to good use.
We used one stringer board and cut it in half for the long vertical pieces. We used a portion of the other for the shorter vertical piece on the left side. Next, we used a power sander to enhance the curves found on the stringers for the forklift tines, rounding over the corners and smoothing it out. The rest was finished with deck boards, and even pieces of deck board. We created shelves and shelf-faces, as well as dividing pockets for lots of storage. Long-term, we may even drill a little hole in the bottom and run an electrical strip in there to plug in and charge all of our devices. I love how this came out, and it was a fun family build. Try one yourself! :)
Any other ideas? Thanks
