I built this chicken coop using recycled wooden pallets and an old bed base, it took me 2 days to built it.
The project was asked for by my sister who needed a raised coop which was fox proof as will be housed at a stable yard.
Only basic tools needed for this project:
- Hammer,
- Saw & jigsaw at times but only for speed,
- And I did use a brad nail gun for cladding as I have it but you could just use nails and take a little longer.
None of the wood needed sanding back or cleaning up so nice and simple.
Built the base first to give 4 uprights to work off.
After that, the bed base was cut up to line the bottom and the 2 long sides.
Stuck polystyrene sheets which were from the new bed onto sides and back for insulation (since found out that coops don’t really need this so not necessary if building again but this could be adapted for dog house).
Cladding was from a machine pallet housing mowers so was thin material.
I can see the chicken enjoying it’s cool if it can get in lol
Just big enough for a half dwarf chicken.
Hello, very nice work!!
