Turn that boring ice chest you have gathering dust in the garage into an amazing, Unique Rustic Cooler!
I made this cooler is made from pallet wood, but you can use store-bought, or upcycle fence boards or other reclaimed wood too.
Here’s what you need to make your own Unique Rustic Cooler:
- Three pallets (1 pallet will make the legs and the lid and then 1-2 more to make the outside)
- Waterproof wood glue (such as Titebond II)
- 1 1/4″ screws
- Sandpaper
- Cooler/ice chest of your choice (so dimensions will need to be adjusted based on your own ice chest)
This isn’t a formal step-by-step tutorial, but rather something to inspire you to build this (or other projects like this). Add your own personal touches with paint, stain, team logos, or other personal touches!
This rustic cooler chest would surely become the star of the party. It is like a tuxedo for your ice chest or cooler!
Break apart your pallets. A pallet bar or Buster makes quick work of it.

Protect your hard work with some polyurethane.
Adding a spigot so that you can drain the melted ice out easily. You could line the bin or use a piece of tubing to connect if you chose.
