I made all of these Stencil Pallet Wall Art projects using 100% upcycled wood. If you aren’t great at freehand drawing, you can go online and find yourself a cool stencil. Stencils make it easy to transfer the art image you want onto a pallet to create unique art.
First, find a pallet and break it down. Next, glue all of your wood pieces together or use some very thin pieces of wood and nails to secure the wood together from the back side**. Apply the glue and clamp firmly, but not so tightly that you squeeze out all of the glue. For best results, allow the glue to set overnight to ensure a strong bond. Sand the surfaces thoroughly, as it is easier to mask off your stencils on smooth surfaces. I prefer to use spray paint when creating wall art projects because I think it’s so much easier. Make sure that you also use good-quality masking tape and firmly press the edges down with a soft plastic edge or firm pressure with your finger. If not, you’ll be doing quite a bit of touch-up and rework.
After you are finished painting, always apply a top sealant layer, such as a glass or polyurethane to protect your work. Always remember to be patient when you are doing this. It takes the time to create something fantastic out of something like ugly pallet wood that has been totally discarded. Install a sturdy artwork mounting system on the back of your piece and enjoy your creation!
Editor’s note: for a stronger joint when gluing boards side-by-side, use biscuit or dowel joints along with glue.
With all of this creative process going on, you may need a folding Art Table to be creative on!
looking forward to the info!
