These two Distressed-Look Pallet Bookcases took about 20 hrs to complete. I built them using six pallets, as well as some beadboard as the backing and top. These Distressed-Look Pallet Bookcases do a great job of highlighting my fireplace now.
Distressed-Look Pallet Bookcases:
The larger bookcase measures 6′ tall x 1 1/2′ deep. The smaller one is 4′ x 1 1/2 ft. I fit them to the spaces available around my fireplace. The shelves are made from plywood. I used beadboard as a decorative addition instead of just plain plywood. The bead-board creates some dimension and texture, as well as some interest. However, I didn’t use it for the shelves because of cost, and the bead board tends to be too thin. I ripped down some deck boards to create approx. 1″ x 2″ trim boards to cover the front faces.
After finishing the assembly, I painted the shelves white. Next, they were stained with a charcoal rustic barn wood stain and very lightly sanded to create a distressed, aged look.
