I decided to add a southwestern theme to my bedroom using a large pallet my son brought home from work. The pallet measures 60 x 75 inches and makes an impressive queen size pallet bed headboard as is. The only modifications I made were adding furring strips to fill the gaps between the boards, which cost 75 cents each at Home Depot.
Then painted and sanded to give it a distressed look, added a 1×8 shelf and decorative molding across the top, and notched a couple of floating pallet nightstands from a small pallet.
The cost of paint, floating shelf hardware, and lumber was around $60, not including the recessed light fixture from Amazon and art pieces found on Craigslist.
I have very little woodworking experience, and this is a project any beginner can quickly build.
