I made this Pallet Game/Coffee Table like most of my other coffee and side-tables. It’s a fun piece, and a great conversation starter.

Pallet Game/Coffee Table – my way:

First, I cut the legs to length. I used some pallet stringer boards to create the long and short sides of the frame. Next, I mounted the frame pieces together with the legs using long fasteners. Then, I covered the top with four  1×6″ pallet boards, and sanded them fairly smooth. I left the modest warping and character of the wood for visual and tactile appeal.

Pallet Game/Coffee Table – the game board:

I taped out the checkerboard, carefully trimming the squares and checking for alignment. Next, I airbrushed the black in, and allowed it to dry. Then, I carefully removed the tape, using caution to avoid gouging the wood. Remove the tape carefully. Pull the tape at an angle that automatically cuts the paint instead of peeling it off of the wood. If there is an error, manually touch up the tear carefully and allow it to dry.

Next, i applied a coating of a satin-finish Varathane, and allowed it to dry. I lightly sanded between coats and reapplied per the manufacturer’s directions. Ta-DAA! Your own personal Pallet Game/Coffee Table. That simple!
