Double Pallet Planter with a Seat

I’ve built this double pallet planter with a seat to stop our Hagrid the great Dane from spoiling the flowers! All of the wood came from the two repurposed pallets I’ve used for this project except for the inner corner/legs which were sourced from some reclaimed door frames that I removed at work and took home to “recycle“.

The dimensions for each planter are 40cm x 40cm (15.75 x 15.75 inches) and 90cm (35.43 inches) from the floor to the top. The seat is from extra thick, standard length long pallet slats. I braced it with two horizontal pieces underneath spaced about 40cm (15.75 inches) apart and then sanded the seat carefully. I haven’t sanded the planters as my wife said she preferred a more rustic look – and that saved me a lot of work. :)

The whole lot is held together with nails that I already had lying around on a shelf.

The only tools I used were a handsaw, a pallet buster and a hammer. I’m definitely going to buy myself an electric saw for my next project though!

This took me a day to complete but I’m very pleased with the results. This project has given me the confidence to try something more ambitious so I hope to post on here again soon!
