I wanted to haunt my front yard with a pair of cemetery pallet gate posts so I built these Halloween pallet gate posts with a simple construction box from pallet slats. I cut 2×4 blocks as spacers for top, middle, and bottom. The end cap plates are made from 6x6x1 scraps.
The skulls on top are styrofoam and were purchased at a craft store nearby, and mounted with washers galvanized lag bolts. I aged the skulls with dark oil-based stain.
I used 10 inches galvanized spikes through the base plate as a stake. The posts were finished with a homemade stain (made from white vinegar, steel wool, and coffee grounds).
I then strung plastic Halloween chain between the posts (connected to the posts with zip ties).
And Voila!
