I used many pallets (lost count). I planned each board then used the table saw to square them up as much as possible. I then face nailed them (I hope they stay down). To finish up, I used cherry stain and two coats of high gloss and one coat of satin polyurethane. It took me about a month working on and off. The hardest part was planing the boards and cleaning up the all of the sawdust.

I did the same flooring. Love it. But I am curious how you keep yours clean. My wife just bought a bissel steam cleaner that is made for hardwood flooring. I am a little apprehensive because the floor is obviously not tongue and grooved like normal hardwood flooring and I am scared water will get between the seams and ruin it.

looks beautiful. Although, I hope you glued and face nailed each piece and not just nails alone. Wood expands and contracts with the changing of the seasons and they will certainly pop up if no glue was used. It looks fantastic though! and I love the design.

Just a thought, wouldn’t of it been easier to install them and then use a floor sander instead of individually sanding each piece?

Wow! So well done no one would ever think those were ever pallets! Where did you get enough to do all of that and have the wood all the same? (Usually I see pallets but some are new, some old.) Did you get them all from the same place?
Beautiful job!

This is such a genius idea! I love the way your floor looks. Recycling pallets and turning them into unique pieces of furniture (or even flooring) is always a good idea. I’m definitely showing your post to my husband, because he should do the same for the floor of my cabinet . Thanks for the recycling idea and the inspiration! Greets, Maxine from :)
