We needed a new bookcase, and I was feeling creative. I had been thinking about it for a while and then I stumbled across a load of industrial pallets used to carry air conditioning units at my local shopping center. I contacted the center and asked them if I could have the wood, and they were happy to get rid of it. I spent 4 hours breaking it up and cutting it short enough to fit in my fiance’s Audi A3 (not the ideal car for the job!) and then brought it home. I probably spent a month working on the project when I had spare time. Most of the bookcase was constructed on my balcony, some in the living room, the basement carpark, and on one occasion I was banished to the bathroom as I was making too much noise and my fiance wanted to watch the TV – hey, you got to do what you got to do right?!
The project is wicked. Happy with how it turned out, and only costs were for the nails and clear matt finish. Won’t be parting with it at any time soon!
