Gather your supplies

  • You will need about 3-4 pallets for this project.
  • The ideal length of the pallets is about 120 cm long.
  • These tools are used: hammer, crowbar, reciprocating saw, sander, cordless drill, cordless screwdriver, circular saw, table saw (optional), and crosscut saw (optional).
  • It took me two afternoons to make it.

You’ll also need:

  • All you will need, besides the wood, are some screws and varnish to finish it.
  • I would suggest using varnish for the finish if you want to keep the old and used look.

Here is how:

STEP 1

Choose your pallets and disassemble them. For good disassembly instructions, you can check our page “How to dismantle a wooden pallet.”

STEP 2

For the two sides of the chair, cut the planks to a length of 68cm. Each side is approximately 58cm wide, so the number of planks you will need, depends on how wide your planks are.

STEP 3

Assemble the planks as shown in the pictures above to the left.

STEP 4

Attach a small plank to the sides and at the top of the armrest to give it a nice look.

STEP 5

Now we need to mount a support beam to the inside of each arm rest. At the front of the arm rest it needs to be attached at a height of 45cm and at the back it needs to be attached at a height of 40cm. This way you will have a comfortable seat.

STEP 6

The next step is to make the chair seat. The dimensions are 57cm wide and 50cm long. At the front of the seat, you will need to attach a small plank on a 90-degree angle. This will hide the support beams.

STEP 7

Attach the seat to the support beams of the arm rests.

STEP 8

Make the backrest in the same way as you have made the chair seat. The dimensions of backrests are 57cm wide and 60cm long (or high).

STEP 9

For the back rest, we also need to attach two support beams to the inside of the armrests. From the bottom of the armrest, it is marked at 49cm and from the top of the armrest it will be marked at 58cm.

STEP 10

Finally, attach a plank to the top of the backrest to finish it off.

STEP 11

To give it a nice look, I finished the chair with a couple of layers of whitewash varnish.
