The secret of this Diamond-Topped Multi-Purpose Pallet Table is that I used a piece of OSB board as support underneath the cut pieces. This provided stability without having to add a lot of extra boards or weight to the table.
Diamond-Topped Multi-Purpose Pallet Table:
In preparing this table, I decided on the dimensions as follows: 76cm tall, 67 cm wide, and 92cm long. First, I cut the OSB smaller to account for the trim thickness. Since deck boards vary, just measure your trim boards and deduct that size from the overall dimensions. I cut the legs to length, then installed them on the frame, mounting the legs low enough so that the OSB would be sitting lower than the top of the frame so that the top boards would be flush. Next, I decided to cut the deck boards into a diamond shape and started by installing the centerboard. After that, I only expanded the diamond shape all the way out to the corners.
Diamond-Topped Multi-Purpose Pallet Table – finishing it up:
If your dimensions are different, and you end up with small pieces in the corner, you can always glue them in. Everything was attached with screws; then I sanded the whole table using a random orbit sander. The only thing I have to do now is to decide if I want to stain it or leave it natural. Then there’s what to finish it with oils, poly or varnish? Hmm. So many possibilities. You’ll see in the final photo, that this table is dog-approved. :)
