Humber Wood Recycling Project is a self-funding social enterprise, formed in December 2013 with the aim of reducing wood waste, saving resources and to create training, volunteering and workplace opportunities for people within the local area who may be considered as disadvantaged or marginalised. Our core business focuses upon the reclaiming of waste wood product, predominantly generated by the construction industry, therefore reducing the amount of wood that is needlessly sent for landfill or pushing it further up the recycling chain by reusing it as opposed to recycling it into fuel chips. Once reclaimed the wood is sorted and graded by our volunteers back at our depot. Some of it is offered back for sale to the community at prices equivalent to at least half that of buying the same from DIY ?sheds? used to make products by our volunteers and offered for sale or made into kindling or firewood which again will be offered for sale to the community. What we cannot reuse or recycle within our depot is sent for processing off-site and turned into biomass fuel chips. Nothing is ever sent for landfill.
