Bee Hostels from Pallet Wood

Not much to say really, I just randomly built these two. If you have read any of the other projects I have done (bird table, bird box, dog bed), I used the same method of cleaning up the edges of the planks with a saw bench before gluing them to form bigger boards.

I did some research before building these but perhaps i should have searched deeper, It would appear solitary bees like holes ranging from 1-9mm diameter and between 100 and 200mm in length.

I cut my canes at about 110mm – 120mm and built the enclosure to suit.

I used a waterbed Cuprinol wood preserve on the outside only and made a distressed look on the roof. This was by painting the pink on first then lightly rubbing some blue with a rag.
