This is certainly one of the most incredible pallet birdhouses we’ve seen out there, and yes it’s made 99% out of repurposed pallet wood! The only part which is not pallet wood is the little branch for the birds in front of the entrance of the birdhouse.
I built this birdhouse for a friend gardener. The construction took me much more time than I originally estimated, it took me around two weeks interspersed with other projects of course. But, I hadn’t anticipated the lack of clamp gasket, the time of gluing of all the pallet planks used in this built and this “sculpture” was not done as fast as in the video below.
Congratulation to Sébastien from RabotBois (Facebook page) for this incredible work, we really love the original shape of this birdhouse, all in curves and all made with recycled pallet wood, which at first glance isn’t obvious. Don’t miss the video below and watch the overall building process of this pallet birdhouse.
Looks great but will any bird nest in it ? The hole is too low and the chicks will fall out.
Great!
I would never use pallet wood for any kind of animal. They are often treated with nasty chemicals (look it up).
Second, what kind of stain did he use? Many of those are bad too.
It is a beautiful birdhouse, it just could be lethal.
You could certainly make it out of untreated lumber scraps with a mineral oil finish.
Please, before saying to not use pallets, read this complete article where we explain everything about pallet safety: https://www.1001pallets.com/pallet-safety/
You can use HT (Heat Treated) pallets, they are not chemically treated and are safe to use.
For the stain, I don’t have the information for this particular project, but they’re a lot of not harmful stains out there you can use to protect the wood…
Une tuerie, bien joué 😉
