This simple idea comes together quickly and takes about five pallets to complete. First, cut four pallet stringers to the height you want for your bench seat. Next, cut four stringers (or you may have to purchase 2×4″ boards for longer benches) to the width you want. Cut four 2×4″s to the depth you want (front-to-back). Assemble your frame, and start trimming the deck boards down. Plane them (or sand them with a palm or random orbit sander), and then install on the outside surfaces. Install more boards for the shelf, and round over the edges with a router or sand them over for comfort. Paint or stain/seal the bench any way you see fit.
