I made this Concrete-Topped Outdoor Pallet Table Set that measures 250 x 90 cm to be sturdy and long-lasting. I reinforced it with two squared-steel tubes to prevent the wood frame from warping. Then I made the cement tops using eight bags of lightweight concrete.
Concrete-Topped Outdoor Pallet Table Set:
First, I made the wooden frame entirely out of old pallets. I had to use two squared steel tubes running the length of the table to reinforce the frame due to the weight of the concrete table-top. This prevented the wooden frame from twisting, warping or bending.
I’ve painted the wood with a standard varnish with a light oak color. We didn’t seal the concrete table-top, but that is also an option, as they’ve got many products to keep moisture, oils, etc., from discoloring the cement.
Editor’s note: Working with concrete can be fun, creative, and cost-effective for many applications. However, just like woodworking, you should be aware of safety precautions. Here’s a link to the Portland Cement Association’s page for safety tips.
