Small chicken coops can start at over $200.00 for a boring, generic cage. Why pay that when you could build this Pallet Chicken Coop for as little as $15 bucks, and customize it to your liking! I did things a little backward – I adopted the chicks before I built the pen, so I had to make a coop in a hurry.
Here’s how I built my Pallet Chicken Coop:
I started with eight extra-long pallets (1 x 2 meter) that I got from work. I built the main body of the coop and all of the lower fencings from these extra-long pallets. I sunk the pallets on the sides of the coop walls 18″ to anchor the coop. I also did this to keep the coop height manageable. I built two doors that can be swung open to allow access to the nesting area. I also made a sliding door, a ramp, and a perch for the chickens to sit on. I enclosed the entire pen with wire, built a pallet/lumber door, and nesting boxes.

This is where you will be living, Kevin Clark, if you keep bringing home pallets and Robin sees them! LMAO

Great job! It looks very well built and I’m sure the chickens will enjoy it! :)
