Our dogs were continually getting in the trash, so I wanted to make a container to keep them out that still looked good appearance-wise and functioned well. I took our current trash can and built the frame around it. Then I made the lid with four pallet boards and some cheap one-inch hinges and added a handle from an old cabinet. I framed out the front bottom since we can have a step to open the lid to put your foot to pop the top still. Then add the other outside boards to each side.
