We collected pallets from a local business. They have been kind enough to support our pallet habit on a weekly basis. Each pallet was broken down meticulously. We straightened edges using a table and chop saw.
Then, all pieces were planed down to create an even flat back (as best we could, I mean some of those suckers were seriously not into laying straight). Each piece was vigorously scraped with a thick stainless steel wire brush.
Finally, we went over each piece with a plastic wire brush to smooth out and brush away any remaining loose dirt. With some liquid nails and a nail gun, the pieces went up in no certain order. It was a painstaking labor of love that took almost four months but now we have a beautiful reclaimed pallet wood wall!
