I started off with a decent semi pallet, untreated and unpainted although a bit dusty. I drew the tree shape using my chicken tractor template and started cutting using a Jigsaw.
Once I had the shape I knocked off the back and then secured the planks using screws and PVA to a backing piece, a simple star was made from the offcuts as was the bottom cross piece to keep it steady.
Using a Microwave Transformer, I then burnt the timber to create the Lichtenberg Captured lightning. Once done this was then scrubbed clean in the shower with a nail brush.
I mixed up some glow in the dark powder with clear wood resin. I poured it in and around and worked it in using a lottery credit card piece of plastic. Once it dried, it was then back to the workshop for a final sanding,
Final finish was a natural hard wax oil and it’s important not to buy an external type or one that has a UV barrier. The glow in the dark powder will need to charge up during the day to light up at night, and the UV barrier will prevent that.
