Japanese Calligraphy Sandbox & Flower Beds

This Japanese calligraphy sandbox and flower beds were created using one pallet. Once the pallet was taken apart, I sawed 16x60cm planks with 4x20cm planks. Both the sand box and flower beds are just basic nailed boxes but lined them both with heavy duty waste bags to hold the sand and soil. I raised the flower boxes to make some level effect, which I think works quite well. I plan to make a lid for the sandbox so that I can put a palm tree on top and possibly some rockery, especially since my partner isn’t really into the whole Japanese thing.

For those that have no idea what a calligraphy sand box is, it’s an adults sand box that you can draw in. The symbol in the photo means garden in Japanese, but the point is that you reset the sand and repeat symbols for relaxation.

This was my first pallet project and I only had a couple of hours to do it including taking the pallet apart, so apologies for the poor workmanship but I enjoyed it all the same :)
