During the master program architecture at the University of Eindhoven – Netherlands – I participated in a couple of projects. One of these projects contained an assignment to design and built my little temple. Because of my fascination for wood and because of the tight budget I decided to make used pallets my primary building material and its origin, trees, as my main source of inspiration.
The function I gave to my temple is similar to the effect a veil has. As if you were sitting down, on the ground, with your back against a tree, resting from your walk through the park and gazing across the grass and nobody notices you.
The result is that of a pallet pavilion that clearly shows the primary building material on the outside. The origin of the pallets, the trees and the calm association I have with them is seen and felt on the inside.
