I made this Petite Pallet Picnic Table because I wanted a bench that is small enough for children but also big enough to let adults sit as well. It took seven hours to finish, and only three pallets to make.
How I made this Petite Pallet Picnic Table:
First, I had to decide how high to make the seats. I measured our children’s seats, and adult chairs and split the difference. I began the frame with stringer boards and cut them at an angle at both ends. They will form the classic “A-shape” of the legs.
Next, I used two pieces of lead deck boards and cut them to the width of the table I intended to build. They were mounted flush to the inside of the A-shape legs. I used more stringer boards to create the bench supports. I mounted them to the A-shape legs at the height I wanted.
After I had installed those, I attached the bench boards but used two deck boards stacked on top of one another to make a sturdy seat. The last step was to install the table, and then my Petite Pallet Picnic Table was done, except for the finish.
I sanded the important parts; the seat and the table so they wouldn’t have anything splintery. I applied a dark stain to the table, seats and A-shape legs, but left the bench supports natural just for a bit of interest. The family really likes it, and it was a fun build.
