A couple of years ago I was dumb enough to use our lovely pub table as a quick access work bench, then proceeded to cut it with a circular saw. It sat around for a while collecting dust, so I figured it couldn't hurt to try and refinish the tabletop with pallet wood.
Just took one pallet. Cut the slats in 11-inches sections, then staggered them similar to wood floors. Nailed and sanded them down, then put a slat on each side to finish it. Thisn't turn out too bad, especially considering it was ruined beforehand.
