With our little do pregnant and due to give birth soon, I had to find or make a whelping box for her. The base is loose from the frame and the front end plank can be put down until the pups are big enough to climb out, when you put it up and they stay inside and she is still able to jump in and out.
A great job done, but from previous experience he should put a board along the top of the inside (or maybe a bit lower if it isn’t a large dog) of each side to prevent the mother from being able to accidentally laying on a pup and smuthering it.
Sounds like you’ve had some experience with the mom and pups before – thanks for the EXCELLENT tip! Happy Palleting!
I think he means Dog. Not Dow. Or Do.
OOPS. It happens…. thanks for clarifying! I certainly hope you’re right…otherwise there may be rogue dows on the loose right now. :-) – Heather the admin assistant
