I needed to make a gift for one of my friends, she was moving into her new house, and it was her 30th birthday….double whammy! I loved the look of some pallet tables I saw online but, I wanted to put a bit more effort in than just wheels, and so it began. I found a pallet with good strength and excellent details on the blocks, stripped id back to the essential components and began to rebuild it piece by piece. Using about five pallets in all, the planks of which all different widths, shades and textures, all stripped sanded and waxed.
It was a jigsaw puzzle to begin with and it took me some time to be happy with the planks configuration. Once happy I started to put it together gluing and screwing for increased durability. I try to stay away from power tools so instead of a sander I planned the surface then got busy with the sand paper…the finish took the longest! then another 3 coats of wax and one final touch!! WHEELS! As i knew she had wood floors nylon wheels weren’t going to be kind, instead I chose rubber wheels used for shipping/flight cases from an online auction site 10cm! big chunky and added a great dimension to the gift!
Great effort, I think she is going to love it.
