Got the inspiration from some other projects on this site, but I’ve always preferred to see the natural color & grain of wood over painting it.
Stripped one pallet, cleared the nails, planed the wood (all oak) down to 1/4″ or so then, reset it with glue and nails. Made the legs from a scrap of the oak 2x4s that held the pallet together. Fastened the legs to the frame with four hex bolts, though eight screws would’ve been stronger if I could’ve fit them into the available space.
I left some of the “Heat Treated” symbols on the leg intentionally, then just sealed everything with about five coats of polyurethane.
